Abstract:
Background

Mobile phone addiction is a non-drug and behavioral addiction that is sometimes used excessively and unknowingly. In the present century, its use has been mentioned as an obsessive-compulsive disorder. Among the important users of this technology are nursing students.

Methods

This descriptive-analytical study was performed on 100 nursing students. The instruments of this study included demographic characteristics questionnaire and mobile phone addiction questionnaire. The questionnaires were given to the research units virtually and they were returned to the researcher after completing them.

Results

The mean and standard deviation of age of units in this study were 22.405 and 3.308. The mean and standard deviation of the cell phone addiction score among students was 36.9, 13.14, which indicates the high dependence of the units. No statistically significant relationship was found between any of the demographic characteristics and mobile phone addiction (p value > 0.05).

Conclusion

Considering the high prevalence of cell phone dependence and addiction among nursing students and the negative and harmful effects of this, it is still appropriate to take appropriate measures in this regard. These measures include encouraging students to do more activities such as holding sports courses and scientific conferences, as well as explaining and informing students about the negative effects of mobile phone addiction.
