The Effectiveness of Teaching Life skills on Promoting Mental Health of Delinquent youths Held in Boushehr Rehabilitation Center
The present study is an experimental one, aiming to identify the effectiveness of teaching life skills on mental health. The population of the study is the total youths held in Boushehr Rehabilitation Center. The subjects were 32 youths which were selected via simple random sampling and were put in two groups: 16 in control group and 16 in experimental group. In order to measure the mental health of the subjects, the GHQ questionnaire was used. Prior to teaching, the questionnaire was given to each of the subjects in control and experimental groups to determine the level of the subjects’ mental health. Then teaching of life skills was conducted to the experimental group and teaching of placebo (teaching proper nutrition) was conducted to the control group. The results obtained from the pre-test and post-test then were computed and analyzed.
