comparison of the effectiveness of Compassion-Focused therapy and Logotherapy on posttraumatic growth in Females with Breast Cancer
The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Compassion-Focused therapy and Logotherapy on posttraumatic growth in Females with Breast Cancer.
The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with the control group. The statistical population of the study included all female with breast cancer who refferd to Arad hospital and had a medical record in spring 2020. Among them, 45 females were selected by purposive sampling and randomly replaced in a control group (waiting for treatment) and two experimental groups (15 people in each group). The subjects of the first and second experimental groups received Compassion-Focused therapy (during 8 sessions) and Logotherapy (during 8 sessions), respectively. the control group (waiting for treatment) did not receive any intervention. For data collection, the posttraumatic growth PTGI (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996) was used. Data were analyzed by analysis of covariance and LSD in SPSS21.
The results showed that Compassion-Focused therapy significantly increased posttraumatic growth y (F=122.56, p=0.001). Also, Logotherapy significantly increased posttraumatic growth (F=15.9, p=0.0004). The results also showed that Compassion-Focused therapy has a greater effect on posttraumatic growth (F = 53.05 and p <0.05) than Logotherapy.
According to the results of the present study, Compassion-Focused therapy can be used to increase posttraumatic growth more effectively than Logotherapy in females with Breast Cancer.
