Educative strategies to deal with «Conspicuous Consumption» based on the good roles of the Holy Quran

Modern life is closely related to two emerging phenomena, namely technology and media, and these two phenomena, along with practical and applied benefits, have caused many behavioral and moral crises. On the other hand, the modern intellectual system has not provided a specific educative solution to solve these problems, and in many cases, it has been involved in these issues. One of these problems, which has become much more tangible in recent years, is the phenomenon of "Conspicuous Consumption", which this article addresses. Conspicuous Consumption has been developed by Thorstein Veblen in the theory of institutional economics. The present study first clarifies the relationship between this idea and Leon Festinger's theory of social comparison, and then, based on the good roles and models of the Holy Quran, presents a solution and educative model to control this problem. Based on the findings of the article, educative strategies are based on several principles: the superiority of divine knowledge over other assets; Correct identification of the superior person; Following a more competent person; Patience in learning and exalting the soul, accepting responsibility for one's own behavior, knowing how to influence others; Thinking and praying alone to achieve an accurate picture of oneself; Moderation in consumption, forgiveness of essential necessities, comprehensive almsgiving, showing good deeds and not showing someone who does good deeds.
