Pressurized Natural Gas (PLNG): A review Abstract

Message:
Abstract:

With the increase of natural gas consumption as the cleanest fossil fuel and also the increase of its extraction from offshore areas, the importance of natural gas storage and transfer methods has become more than before. With the introduction of PLNG as an efficient method in reducing costs compared to methods such as LNG, the need for a comprehensive review of the few studies conducted in this field seems very necessary. In this study, by examining the PLNG supply chain, the transmission of natural gas over long distances has been proposed as a future method and if the design is optimized by eliminating some LNG processes, it can reduce the initial and operating capital costs. Various studies have been performed in the field of liquefaction and cascading liquefaction cycles, mixed refrigerant, single mixed refrigerant and gas expander have been studied. The PLNG maintenance system, which is the key part of the PLNG supply chain, has also been studied.
