The metafiction techniques in the play "Ibn al-Rumi fi Muduni al-Safih" by Abd al-Karim Burshid

A meta-story is a story that consciously and systematically draws the reader's attention to the artificiality of the story in order to raise ontological questions about the world of the text and the world outside the text. in order to achieve his goals, the author of the meta-story challenges the concepts of traditional fiction such as text, narrative, framework, conclusion and history, and by doing so, he wants to instill in the reader the fact that what he reads is nothing but the language and craft of fiction. get the truth wrong. to achieve this, the storyteller uses techniques such as the author's entry into the story, intertextuality, artificialization of the story world, alienation, extreme use of storytelling techniques, unusual use of punctuation marks and multiple narratives. the play "Ibn al-Rumi fi Muduni al-Safih" (1975 AD) by Abd al-Karim Burshid (1943 AD) is one of the new and modern plays of Arabic literature that can be considered as a meta-story due to its special narrative structure. relying on a descriptive-analytical method, in addition to examining the scope of metanarratives in the play, the present study seeks to examine the historical narrative discourse of Ibn Rumi in which the author rewrites historical events in a postmodern manner. In this play, Burshid tries to create an amalgam of history, narration, memory and free association in this text. with the help of these arrangements, he dissects the real events of Ibn Rumi's life and presents them in a transformed form
