Identity Problematics of the Left Student Movement in the 2000s in Relation to the Women's Movement and the Labor Movement An approach based on resource mobilization theory

In the 2000s, a leftist movement emerged in Iran's universities that sought to link its demands to other social forces especially the women's movement and the labor movement. How this connection is established is one of the unknown aspects of this movement. The main question was what was the position of women and workers in such a movement? Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify the students' approach to the women's movement and the labor movement. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and students' opinions were collected using key informant interviewingThe results showed that these students paid more attention to gender inequality than previous left-wing activists, which was due to the pervasiveness and somewhat radicalization of women's demands. The results also proved that laborers were important to students for ideological reasons as well as activism. The students were in contact with the workers through various means such as collecting financial aid, appreciating labor activists, holding lectures, gathering and exhibiting photos and books, publishing magazines, and so on.
