Predicting Suicide Ideation Based on Distress Tolerance And Perceived Social Support In Students Universities of Hamadan
The aim of this study was to predict suicidal ideation based on distress tolerance and perceived social support in university students in Hamadan. The research method is descriptive-correlational.
The statistical population of the study consisted of all students of universities in Hamadan. The random sampling method was relative random. Based on the formula of Fidel and Tabachenik (2007), 106 people were selected from the statistical population, which was increased to 120 due to caution. The research instruments were three scales of suicidal tendencies (2006), Simmons and Gahr (2005) distress tolerance and perceived social support of Zimet, Dahlem, Zemmit and Farley (1988). Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to test the research hypothesis.
Analysis of the results showed that perceived social support is a significant predictor of suicidal ideation. Anxiety tolerance could not be a significant predictor of suicidal ideation.
By providing social support and increasing anxiety tolerance, suicidal ideation can be significantly reduced.
