Comparison of the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy approach with Guttman's marital enrichment approach on spontaneous thoughts in depressed married women
The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy approach with Gutman's marital enrichment approach on self-esteem in depressed married women.
The current research was quantitative and of the type of semi-experimental studies with a pre-test, post-test design with a control group. The statistical population included depressed married women who referred to Alborz transplant counseling center in 2018. Using the available sampling method, 45 depressed married women whose depression was confirmed by the Beck Depression Test were selected and randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group. Subjects responded to Halon and Kendall's (1980) Spontaneous Thoughts Questionnaire.
Data analysis using covariance analysis showed that Gutman's cognitive behavioral therapy and marital enrichment had a significant effect on reducing spontaneous thoughts compared to the control group. and (p>0.01). Also, the treatment based on Gutman's marital enrichment has been more effective than cognitive behavioral therapy.
Based on the findings, Gutman's approach compared to the cognitive behavioral therapy approach had a greater impact on spontaneous thoughts and also reduced depression in married women.
