Abstract:

An unprecedented scientific crisis in Iran is characterized by degreeism, plagiarism, scientific fraud, unmotivated students, vacant seats, academic exhaustion of students, unemployment of university graduates, and a lack of knowledge of the world of students and their lived experiences. Using the paradigm of social definition, it is necessary to understand the mental world, values, and intentions of the actors in order to understand the objective characteristics of the society. The present study, with the aim of analyzing the state of scientific activism in Iranian universities, is trying to describe the understanding and interpretation of activists around education and university and to discover their activism patterns in the scientific field. The methodology was constructive-interpretive, and the method was the basic theory and the studied society of the undergraduate students at the University of Tehran Faculty of Social Sciences. After coding the interviews, the purposeful sampling method continued until theoretical saturation was reached. A research paradigm model was developed based on the researcher's findings and theoretical inferences, focusing on the concept of castration of the academic activism. Scientific activism was castrated by suppressed helpless identities, structural deficiencies, and vulgar science (causes). Inverted professors and structural deficiencies were causal conditions, meaning crises were intervening conditions, and the hegemony of rotten traditions provided the background and basis. In this situation, the students' strategy was selfish learning, hidden protest, cheating, isolation and migration. This has resulted in deterioration of professional ethics, despair and frustration, employment unrelated to the field of study, unemployment, depression and addiction.
