Sociology of medical education foundational fields, Study focuses and Future research prospects with a look at the subject in Iran
The research has been conducted with the aim of reviewing the foundational fields, Study focus and future Prospects of the sociology of medical education, with a criticism on Iran's situation. The method is a non-systematic and narrative review. The tool of collection is Withdrawal and content analysis of written documents in the last 70years (1950s to 2020s). The keywords were searched in the scientific databases of Iran and the world. The inclusion criteria purposeful and cumulative, were "matching keywords","top-cited, More indexed and meaningful", about "medical students, physicians, institutions/medical system" with "one sociologist writer or appointed in the field of sociology". Extraction and synthesis of information was thematic content analysis and historical sequence. The research originality obtained on the originality of documents and compliance with ethical standards. According to the results, Sociology of medical education is one of the focus of sociological knowledge production, which has been expanded in several "Study focus", but it is unknown in the field of medical and sociological society of Iran, and a few examples of theoretical and experimental works can be found in it. However, the possibility of moving in existing axes and in several potential "epistemological and research perspectives" is identified for it.
