The Effect of Iranian-Islamic Lifestyle Education on Emotional Divorce and Spiritual Health in Couples with Marital Problems
Marital problems can increase emotional divorce and decrease the spiritual health of couples. As a result, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of Iranian-Islamic lifestyle education on emotional divorce and spiritual health in couples with marital problems.
The present study was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test design with control group. The study population was couples with marital problems who referred to counseling centers in Babol in 1400. The sample consisted of 30 couples who, after reviewing the inclusion criteria, were selected by available sampling method and randomly replaced in two equal groups. The experimental group underwent 10 sessions of 60 minutes of Iranian-Islamic lifestyle training and the control group remained on the waiting list for training. Research instruments included the Emotional Divorce Scale (Guttman, 1994) and the Spiritual Health Scale (Palutzin et al., 2012). Multivariate analysis of covariance in SPSS-21 software was used to analyze the data.
The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of emotional divorce and spiritual health. In other words, the Iranian-Islamic lifestyle education method reduced emotional divorce and increased spiritual health in couples with marital problems (P <0.001).
The results showed the positive effect of Iranian-Islamic lifestyle education on emotional divorce and spiritual health of couples. As a result, for psychological interventions, especially to reduce emotional divorce and increase health, the Iranian-Islamic lifestyle education method can be used along with other educational methods.
