The effectiveness of reality therapy on identity crisis and Homesickness of student’s dormitory boarding schools in Isfahan

Abstract:

The Present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of reality therapy on identity crisis and homesickness which was conducted based on a semi-experimental method in a pretest-posttest design with control group. The study population included 1500 male high school students living in dormitories of boarding schools at academic year of 2016-17 in Isfahan, 30 of whom were selected based on availability given inclusion and exclusion criteria and using simple random selection. The participants were then divided into two groups of experiment and control (n=15). All the participants completed the research instruments including, Ahmadi’s Identity Crisis Questionnaire (1988) and Van Vliet’s Homesickness Questionnaire (2001) at pretest and posttest. The Experiment group received 10 sessions of reality therapy while the control group did not receive any treatment. The Collected data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA. The Results indicated that reality therapy has positive effect on reduction of identity crisis and homesickness (p<0/05).
