The Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in reduction of Depression in Mothers of Children with Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common motor impairment in childhood and Mothers of children with cerebral palsy due to many problems that they deal with are at high risk of having depression. The current study seeks to determine the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in the reduction of depression in Mothers of children with cerebral palsy. This study is semi-experimental with pre-test, post-test, and control group. The population includes all Mothers of children with cerebral palsy in Tabriz City in 2018. The sample consisted of 30 women (experimental group=15) (control group=15). Participants were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to groups. To collect research data Beck Depression Inventory was used. The results of covariance analysis show that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Mothers of children with Cerebral Palsy have significant effect on reducing depression. The results obtained in this study suggest that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can be effective in treating depression in Mothers of children with Cerebral Palsy.
