Developing an interpretive structural model for the development of traditional sports and indigenous and local games

The purpose of this study was to developing an interpretive structural model for the development of traditional sports and indigenous and local games. With regard to the main purpose, the research method was qualitative. The statistical population of this study includes experts in sport management and traditional sports. Using targeted sampling and theoretical saturation techniques, key informants (including 14 experts) selected to identify the framework of the model and by semi-structured interviews (with focus groups), the components and factors for development of traditional sports and indigenous and local games were identified. Then interpretive structural modeling was also used as one of the consensus methods. The results showed that 42 concept codes in the form of 8 categories are effective on the development of traditional sports and indigenous and local games. Also, by interpretive structural analysis, it was found that the development model of traditional sports and indigenous and local games consists of seven levels, which are in the first level, Holding competitions and infrastructure factors, and factors of organizational cooperation, management, manpower, Education, media and financial resources were ranked second to seventh, respectively. Therefore, it is suggested that the identified indicators based on the research model be considered by the country's sports officials to develop traditional sports and indigenous and local games in the country.
