The amount of attention to the components of traffic education in social studies textbooks of elementary school

Considering that one of the tasks of curriculum planners is to compile rich content for traffic education, but the surveys and researches show that; Children and teenagers are less familiar with traffic rules. research; Examining the content of elementary school social studies books is in the field of traffic education. The statistical population of this research was the content of elementary school social studies books (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade) in the academic year 1402-1401, which was purposefully sampled.To determine the components of traffic education, the descriptive method and then the content analysis method were used in order to review and analyze the social studies curriculum. The data collection tool was; Checklist for analyzing the content of textbooks, analyzing activities, worksheets and analyzing images; that after studying the theoretical foundations, a proposed plan was prepared and its validity and reliability were evaluated favorably by an educational science expert. They were also the analysis unit of pages (text, images and activities). The results of the research showed that a total of 91 cases are dedicated to traffic education, in the form of components of pedestrians, passengers and bicyclists. The highest frequency is for pedestrians and the lowest frequency is for cyclists. Passenger and car components are ranked second and third respectively. Therefore, due to the importance of traffic education in the important stage of elementary school, it should be given more importance and a fundamental revision should be made in its related content.
