Examining the psychometric properties of the Emotion Regulation Strategies Questionnaire and Distress Tolerance Questionnaire in high school students

Abstract:

The aim of the present study was to investigate the psychometric properties of questionnaires of emotion regulation strategies and distress tolerance in students. The research method was descriptive and the statistical population of the present study was made up of all the secon year high school students of Lorestan province in the academic year of 1402-1401. A number of 348 of these people were chosen by available sampling method and responded individually to the scales of emotion regulation strategies (ERQ) and distress tolerance (DTS). Cronbach's alpha coefficient, concurrent validity, content validity and construct validity (confirmatory factor analysis) were used for data analysis. The data was analyzed with the help of Excel, SPSS-25 and AMOS-24 software. The results of the internal consistency coefficient showed that this scale has good reliability. Also, the results of content validity (examination of expert opinions), concurrent validity (significant positive correlation between two scales and subscales at P<0.05 level) and construct validity (RMSEA<0.08, CFI>0.9, GFI >0.9) are approved. The results of this research showed that these scales have good reliability and validity in the Iranian population and are suitable self-assessment scales for clinical and research situations.
