Examining the Factor Structure of the Keye's Comprehensive Scale of Well-being

Message:
Abstract:
he factor structure of a comprehensive scale of the mental health symptoms, measured by Keyes (2002, 2005), was examined. 88 male and 117 female students of Tehran University completed two, six, and five subscales respectively of emotional, psychological, and social well- being. The mental health scale consisted of 13 subscales measuring hedonic (i. e., emotional well-being) and eu- demonic (i. e., psychological and social well-being) as- pects of well-being. Emotional, psychological, and social well-being factors emerged after executing an exploratory factor analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis also tested five theoretical models of 13 mental health symptoms including independent, one factor, three uncorrelated factors, three correlated factors model, and this correlated factors with cross loading. Both exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that the three correlated factors model of mental health symptoms is the best fitted model for explaining the present data.
