An Explanation of the Causes and Grounds of Domestic Violence

The aim of this research is to study the causes and grounds of domestic violence against women. Thus, a theoretical meta-analysis was performed on several previous Iranian and other research works. The results show that the causes of violence against women are restricted to personal, interpersonal, and social categories.The personal causes can be biological (such as male hormones and physical ability) or psychological (such as suspicion, immorality and addiction). The interpersonal causes include various factors such as gender, social learning and relational problems (such as conflict and felony). The social causes include economic (unemployment, low income) and cultural (social acceptance of violence, prejudgments about women) factors, which will be discussed in detail.
