A Survey of Challenges in Realization of Approved University Decentralized System of Curriculum Planning from Views of Educational Science Faculty Members in Tehran Universities (Academic - year 2009-10)

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to identify challenges in realization of universities’ decentralized system of curriculum planning from faculty members point of views. The research method used was a combination of descriptive methods inclusive of document analysis and survey. The statistical population included faculty members in educational sciences in Tehran’s universities in which 101 people were randomly selected. A researcher made questionnaire was used for data gatherings. The research finding identified the following challenges respectively: Lack of appropriate organizational structure, un-institutionalized culture of faculty centered curriculum planning, lack of a real belief in the importance of faculty centered curriculum planning, lack of personal motives; lack of suitable financial and credit supports, lack of an educational system for professional guidance and supports, lack of expertise for curriculum planning in faculty members, and lack of appropriate legal mechanism at universities.
