Stability of grain yield of promising bread wheat lines in Golestan province

Abstract:
Development of Wheat Cultivars with High and stable yield for different environments is very important in breeding programs. To control the Interaction effect between genotype and environment yield of genotypes should be evaluate in different environmental conditions for selecting of stable genotypes. In this study 9 bread wheat genotypes along with a check cultivar (Tajan) were studied for grain yield and its stability in different regions of Golestan province (Gorgan، Anbaroloum، Gonbad، Kalaleh) during 2001-2004 cropping seasons. The experimental design in all the locations was randomized complete blocks design with three replications. Each plot consisted of six rows of 6. 6 meter with 18 centimeter distance among the rows. In each location simple and combined ANOVA were implemented. Combined analysis of variances was done over the 3 years. A significant difference was among the genotypes only in Anbaroloum. also Genotypes No. 4 (PARA2//JUP/BJY/3/VEE/JUN/4/2*KAUZ) in Gorgan and Kalaleh، No. 8 (HD2206/HORK//BUL/6/CMH80A. 253/4/…) in Anbaroloum and No. 2 (KAUZ/STAR) in Gonbad had the highest grain yield. Results of combined ANOVA showed that interaction of genotype× location× year was significant at 1% probability level. Results of stability analysis on grain yield using parametric method of coefficient of variance (C. V%) and environmental variance showed that genotype No. 8 and 2 were the most stable genotypes. In base non- parametric methods (rank) genotypes No. 4، 2 and 3 with mean 3. 67، 4. 25 and 4. 25 the most stable genotypes. Overall based on the mean grain yield and stability parameters، Genotype (KAUZ/STAR) was found the highest yielding، and the most stable genotype therefore it was determined as a desirable genotype for Golestan province.
