Study the Capabilities of M.A. Students of Physical Education and the Advising Quality of Faculty Members about the Thesis Writing
The purpose of this present research was to the study of scientific and practical capabilities of M.A. students and advising quality of their supervisors and advisors. In this regard, was gathered perspectives of 137 M.A. students of physical education of universities of Urmia, Shahid Chamran Ahvaz, Tarbiat Moallem Tehran, Tehran, Shahid Beheshti, Ferdosi Mashhad and Gilan who had been passed 3 semester of their program was gathered. The instrument of data collection was a researcher-made questionnaire (α-coefficient was 0.87). Research results indicated that the graduate students evaluated their scientific and practical capabilities (2.45 out of 4) and advising quality of their supervisors and advisors (2.65 out of 4) in a mediocre level. In addition, research findings illustrated a significant difference between supervisors and advisors in quality of advising (P=0.001) that quality of advising of supervisors (with mean of 2.75) was better than advisors (with mean of 2.54). There was a significant positive correlation between student capabilities and advising quality of their professors (P ≤ 0.001). Also, there was significant positive correlations between students, scientific and practical capacities and 1) notice of target population from thesis results (P ≤ 0.001), 2) attendance of authorities at these results and putting them in practical use (P = 0.026), and 3) using real data by students and without cheating probability (P = 0.001). In addition, there was significant positive correlation between the advising quality of teachers and 1) notice of target population from thesis results (P = 0.043), 2) fair variable of evaluation of postgraduate (M.A) theses (P ≤ 0.001).
