Assessment site selection for primary schools Eslamshahr using GIS

proper locations’ Finding for schools has always faced with great difficulties and controversy in different parts of our country. More attention to effective factors in location finding of schools in relation to urban life in different parts of our country would make the use of modern and computer systems. The main purpose in this study is determining of best locations for primary schools in Islamshahr. In order to gain this goal, first, conceptual model, effective criteria in primary schools’ site selection (coverage radius, population and it density, proximity to pathway network (accesses), land use (neighborhood compatible and incompatible)) are specified and their information are provided. In the next stage, analytic hierarchy processing model (AHP) for weight calculation of criteria are used. Then, each of criteria layers, in land use distance layer (compatible and incompatible neighborhood), radius coverage of existent primary schools, proximity to pathways network and population density layer are provided in Raster format. Each of criteria, with attention to it sub criteria are classified with use from it weight. It means that each five criteria of one level, is overlaid by it weight with Index overlay method and final map of primary schools are gained. In GIS environment, spatial distribution and location and function radius of existent primary schools are analyzed in Islamshahr. Consequently, regions that were out of existent primary schools coverage radius, are specified. Then the new sites of primary schools are proffered by used hierarchy processing model and it Compilation with GIS ability for regions that were out of existent primary schools coverage radius. Results reveal that existent primary schools in Islamshahr are not enough for covering of all of this city and more than 35 percent of Islamshahr Area are out of coverage radius the new sites of schools are proffered.
