Comparative Study of Relationship between Staff Retention Strategies and Job Performance of Private and Public Sector's Employees

Abstract:
Aim
The research aims at determining and comparing the relationship between staff retention strategies and job performance of private and public sectors located in Golestan Province. Retention strategies were measured in three main areas of retirement and insurance، health and welfare service.
Method
Through carrying out a descriptive-comparative design، a sample of 120 was selected from a larger population including all the employees of municipal water and wastewater companies. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics (Spearman correlation coefficient، T test and test Kolmogrov-Smirnov).
Results
Findings demonstrated no significant relationship between welfare service، health and employees’ job performance in public and private sectors. Moreover، no significant relationship was observed between insurance strategies، retirement and employees’ job performance in the private sectors. However، there exists a significant relationship between insurance strategies، retirement and employees’ job performance in the public sector.
