Abstract:
As a dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on skills training. The present research seeks to study its effectiveness in patients with borderline personality disorder. It used a single case experimental design scheme with multiple baselines on two patients in 20 sessions and an additional one-month follow-up period. Data were collected using Millon Clinical Multitaxial Inventory (MCMI-III), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS) and the Scale of Adult Hope Schneider (SAHS). The treatment significantly reduced mood swings, impulsive behaviors, and sense of emptiness among borderline patients. The results showed that dialectical behavior therapy could be effective in treating patients with borderline personality disorder.
