Comparison of mental health status of student teachers and teachers

Abstract:
Mental health component is important especially in tracers. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mental health component in teachers and student teachers that will affect directly and indirectly on the mental health of students. This research project is a comparative descriptive. The population of the study consisted of all students (including student teachers and teachers studying) Varangian university in Tehran. Among all campus, martyr Moated campus was selected with random sampling & all students (100 students) responded (SCL90-R) psychiatric symptoms list. Mean responses from participants in teachers group was 99.46 and for student teachers was 91.82 that show there are problems in the field of mental health. The results of multivariate analysis of variance to compare means SCL90-R sub-components show that between the two groups in the component somatization (teachers, with an average of 15.o4 and student teachers 11.26) there is a significant difference. However, there was no significant difference in other sub-components, but in both groups, the percentage obtained in the sub-components most remarkable. Psychiatric symptoms of depression were (78% of teachers and 82% of student teachers), obsessive-compulsive (74% in both groups), morbid sensitivity in interpersonal relationships (74% in both groups) and paranoid opinion (68% teachers Student & and 64% in teachers).
