Study of Relationship between Information Literacy and Library Anxiety in Graduate Students of Kharazmi University

Abstract:
Objective
The present research examines the relationship between information literacy and library anxiety in graduate students of Kharazmi University.
Methodology
This is a survey research. Research populations include all graduate students of Kharazmi University, 500 students from among them were selected randomly as research samples; while, 402 students returned their questionnaires. Data were gathered through two questionnaires developed according to information literacy competency standard for higher education and Bostick’s library anxiety scale.
Findings
Findings are indicative of significant relationship between information literacy and library anxiety in both groups of men and women. Correlation of information literacy and library anxiety scores in women (P=0.046), in men (P=0.046) and in total was (P=0.009). Correlation of information literacy and library anxiety scores in master’s degree students (P=0.009), in Ph.D. students (P=0.668), and in total was (P=0.009).
Conclusion
Increase in information literacy in master’s degree students, results in decrease of library anxiety. In Ph.D. students, such relationship was not observed. Maximum level of anxiety (39.3%) relates to mild anxiety.
