Transit Oriented Development and heat islands reduction in cities: proposals for integrated solutions (case study: Bojnord city)

The accelerated development of human society has faced them with a lot of problems, including environmental issues. One of these environmental problems is urban heat island phenomenon which is an increase in temperature of the surrounding urban areas. This phenomenon has been created many problems such as heat stroke, decreased quality of water resources, increased air pollution, and energy consumption and .... For cities and their inhabitants. This study is an applied one conducted by a descriptive method based on survey. The aim of this study was to investigate the phenomenon of heat islands in Bojnord city and providing recommendations for application-based solutions in accordance with the development of public transport. Thus in   first step, based on the analysis of data related to temperature between 1382 to 1394, in and around thecity, is trying to prove the heat Islands phenomenon in Bojnord. Since the main cause of urban heat Islands is changing in land cover in urban areas and the construction of human and given that, Transit Oriented Development (TOD) seeks to strike a balance between land-use system, land use and public transport, It seems after adjusting the implementation of development strategies based on public transport, we could take steps to reduce the effects of urban heat Islands. The findings show that there is heat Island phenomenon in             Bojnord. Research suggestion is using solutions of TOD in order to reduce the heat Island effect in cities (Bojnord).
