An autopsy of Iran's decline in the views of Seyed Javad Tabatabai

The issue of degeneration and crisis has been raised in the past, especially in contemporary Iran. Thinkers and intellectuals from different philosophical, political, economic and cultural dimensions have studied the decline of Iran. Most intellectuals, both religious and non-religious, have viewed the issue of Iran's decline from an ideological perspective. The central question and purpose of this research is to examine the philosophical approach of Seyed Javad Tabatabai to the decline of Iran. Tabatabai believes that the question is a philosophical decline and that the answer must be thoughtful. This intellectual has explained this issue from different historical dimensions, the West, the nature of government and tradition in Iran. Thus, modern rationality and reason itself are known as the foundation for overcoming degeneration and challenges. Of course, some thinkers have criticized this theory from different conceptual dimensions such as the definition of degeneration, the concept of Iran, being Hegelian and the idea of authoritarianism. The theory of degeneration has also been criticized in terms of the interaction of development and rationality, Westernism, the interaction of tradition and modernity, and the general culture of the Iranian people.
