Investigating the Relationship between Cultural Perversion and Lifestyle Dimensions; towards Societal Security Policymaking.

Social harms, whether willingly or unwillingly, have made order and security face severe challenges; and whereas an important part of social harms falls within the concept of cultural perversion, looking into social issues is of high importance to the formal social control system. In addition, given the trend of cultural change in the Iranian society, the concept of lifestyle and its dimensions is another variable that is associated with order and security. Accordingly, the present study has investigated the impact of lifestyle indicators on cultural perversion that disrupts social order and public security. Karaj as the most densely populated and diverse metropolis in Iran was selected as the study population in this research.

The present cross-sectional study was conducted through survey and using questionnaire as a tool. The statistical population of the study included citizens of Karaj metropolis. The sample size was estimated using "Sample Power" and finally 288 samples were selected using random sampling method. Survey and questionnaire were the tools used to collect information, and the findings were extracted using descriptive and inferential statistics.

The research findings indicated that the cultural perversion indicator in both subjective and objective dimensions was at a considerable level in the studied sample. Findings also showed that among the dimensions of lifestyle, body management had a direct and significant impact on cultural perversion, while cultural consumption pattern had a direct and relatively weak impact on it. In contrast, the proper pattern of spending leisure time has had a significant inverse impact on cultural perversion among individuals.

The theoretical implications of these findings indicate there is a significant relationship between paying attention to modern patterns of body management and the consumption of modern cultural goods and indicators of cultural perversion. This relationship indicates the importance of producing media content to mitigate social harms, and suggests that it is essential for social policymakers, including the police, to pay attention to positive and community-oriented strategies and methods to prevent and reduce rate of behaviors that violate the society's moral norms such as "Hijab".
