The Effect of Working Conditions on Job Success by Mediating Role of Workaholism among Faculty Members

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of working conditions on job success by mediating the role of workaholism among faculty members in Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. The research method was descriptive-correlational with emphasis on Structural Equation Modeling. The statistical population included all faculty members of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (N= 794). Using Morgan table, 260 people were selected by simple random sampling method.  Data were collected through the work- holism, working conditions Questionnaire (DCSQ).  Data were analyzed using SPSS and SMART PLS software. The research results showed that at 99% confidence level, workaholism and job success among professors were higher than average and variable of psychological requirements and social support were lower than average. Also the results of showed that workaholism variable can play a mediating role in the relationship between control range and decision making and, job success, but it does not play a role in the relationship between social support and job success. The results of this study confirmed the research model that suggests positive and indirect effect of job control on job success through workaholism and a positive and direct effect of job control and social support on job success.
