Japan's Regime-Building in East Asia
Japan, as the most influential country in East Asia, has played an active role in shaping the region's structure over the past three decades. Though in pursuit of its goals and attaining its maximum interests, it encountered obstacles such as the rise of China, but because of its importance and economic weight, it has consistently been striving to consolidate its role as a regional leader. From Japan's actions, the founding of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 1966, which Japan was playing as the leader of the Asian region, played a role within the framework of the Bank. In the late 1990s, following the 1997 financial crisis in East Asia, regime-building in East Asia intensified. The main question is why Japan has created or supported regimes in the East Asian region and beyond? The variables of the article are such that regimen is considered as an independent variable and the consolidation and promotion of economic status, as well as balancing, are considered as dependent variables. In response to the main question, using the approaches of the regime and balancing, it is argued that Japan, after the 1997 crisis, seeks to stabilize and promote the status of its economy and control the growing power of China, In this regard it initiated the proposals to establish an Asian Monetary Fund, strong support to form ASEAN+6 or the East Asia Summit, support for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership for East Asia, support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership and a commitment to provide $ 110 billion funding in 2015 and increased it to $ 200 Billion In 2017.
