Abstract:

Social trust is one of the most important requirements for achieving civic culture and establishing sustainable democracy. This article seeks to investigate the relationship between social trust on the one hand and social tolerance on the other among the Iranian graduate students. To do this, we use questionnaire among the students who lived in the dormitory of Tehran University in 2018 academic year. The population questioned were 86 students who were selected from among 110 students based on Morgan sampling table. To analyze the data, we used SPSS19 in order to calculate the correlation coefficient between different variables. According to our findings there is a meaningful correlation between students` social trust and their social toleration (p> 0/05). There exists, too, a meaningful correlation between cooperative inclinations of students with their social tolerance (p> 0/01). Further, we could not find a meaningful correlation among students` outspokenness, honesty, and trustworthiness on the one hand and their social tolerance.
