The child becomes a subject in health in Iran: A historical analysis of the Qajar period

Having health is one of the inherent rights of children in any society that covers different aspects of their lives. Every societychr('39')s attention to childrenchr('39')s health is different, which has emerged over time and within social and cultural currents. The purpose of this study is to study how the child became a topic of health in the history of Iran.

This research has been conducted in the field of sociology with a historical method and a descriptive-analytical approach.

Occurrence of famine and epidemics such as cholera, plague, pertussis, etc. in the history of Iran, especially in the early Qajar period, led to the widespread death of Iranian children and general despair of the decline in the population of children; One of the results of such developments was the proof of the ineffectiveness of traditional medicine strategies and prayer and superstition methods among the Iranian people, which simultaneously expanded the tendency to use modern medicine methods. At that time, the general experience of the effectiveness of modern medicine along with encouraging intellectuals, educated people and scholars to use modern medicine methods to improve general health and preserve the lives of children led to "more attention of Iranian society to modern medicine" and "focus modern medicine on childrenchr('39')s health.

 In all stages of writing the present study, while respecting the authenticity of sources and information, honesty and trustworthiness have been observed.

With the emergence of new structures and institutions around childrenchr('39')s health, in general, the living environment of children has changed, the issue of health has overshadowed this group and as an equal, the importance of children as an issue for health is increasing day by day and found certainty.
