Factors affecting sustainable lifestyles and approaches, design and evaluation of policies and actions
The purpose of this study is to answer the question "What are the factors affecting a sustainable lifestyle and how can policies and actions related to a sustainable lifestyle be designed and evaluated?" To achieve this goal, the researcher has tried to identify the effective factors in the three categories of motivations, drivers and determinants by examining the theoretical literature in this field, while providing a sociological definition of sustainable lifestyle. Determinants in turn are divided into attitudes, facilitators (access) and infrastructure. In addition, it has shown that there are two ways to design and evaluate sustainable lifestyle policies and measures: a) the REDuse approach, which is a bottom-up strategy, and b) the AFI approach, which is a top-down strategy. Then, relying on the AFI approach and using a survey method and a researcher-made questionnaire (of the Likert scale), one of the constituent elements of attitudes, namely knowledge and awareness of a group of stakeholders (citizens of 5 districts of Tehran) with a sample size of 1200 (593 males and 607 females) and simple random sampling method in the field of sustainable lifestyle. The findings of the study showed that in the absence of sustainable options and access to them or getting stuck among unstable options, it is not easy to act consciously. Raising citizens' awareness is only part of what needs to be done.
