Investigating the role of some effective parameters on soil structure in preventing flood aggravation and damage to agricultural lands in rural areas(Case study: Rural areas of Khodaafarin city, East Azerbaijan province)

The amount of water infiltration into the soil plays an important role in flood control; If the permeability of soil decreases and its structure changes due to land use change, overgrazing, etc., this will lead to increased runoff and intensification of floods in agricultural lands of rural areas, and heavy losses for villagers and farmers. brings. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effective parameters on soil permeability and factors affecting runoff and flood intensification in agricultural lands, rural settlements. The research method used in this study is the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) and hot spot analysis (hotspot). Geographical area of ​​the research: In this research, 88 points of the studied lands have been sampled. Based on the research results, two parameters of organic matter percentage and soil porosity were evaluated on increasing the rate of water infiltration in the soil and other parameters lacked a statistically clear spatial autocorrelation pattern. This indicates the fact that light soils rich in organic matter, as well as soils that have porosity (empty space between soils), have high permeability and absorb more water than other soils. Water permeability in the soil will play an important role in preventing the intensification of floods and will reduce the damage caused to agricultural lands and settlements in rural areas, and ultimately will contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture as well as sustainable comprehensive rural development.
