Predicting the Quality of Work Life of Female Police Officers Based on Work-Family Conflict and Organizational Commitment (Case Study of Female Police Commanders in Bushehr Province)
The purpose of this study was to predict the quality of work life of female police personnel based on work-family conflict and organizational commitment. The population of the study consisted of all married women employees of the police command office of Bushehr province who were working in 1995. Twenty-eight female married women employees were randomly assigned to multi-stage cluster sampling.
The research was descriptive-correlational and research tools included quality of life (Walton, 1973), family labor conflict (Rastegar Khaled, 2006) and organizational commitment (Allen & Myer, 1990). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis.
Findings and Results:
The results of the analysis showed that there is a significant relationship between the components of work-family conflict and organizational commitment with dimensions of quality of work life. The components of work-family conflict (interpersonal role with family role, family role interference subscale with role role, family role addiction and overlay role role) with quality of work life dimensions showed a negative and significant correlation (P≤0.05). There was a positive and significant relationship between components of organizational commitment (emotional commitment, continuous and normative) and dimensions of quality of work life (P≤0.05). In addition, the analysis of regression analysis showed that "role-based role interference with family role" along with "normative commitment" and "family role interference with work role" were able to predict the overall score of quality of working life (P≤0.05). Therefore, the present study showed that the components of family labor conflict and organizational commitment predict the dimensions of quality of work life.
