Investigating the Relationship between Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCS) Symptoms with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCSD) and Depression Anxiety and Stress
In the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the ground for the separation of obsessive-compulsive disorder from the category of anxiety disorders and the formation of a concept called obsessive spectrum was provided. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between obsessive-compulsive disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety and stress depression to evaluate this new diagnostic category.
The present research design is descriptive-analytical. The statistical population of this study included 245 students of Tehran universities who were selected by convenience sampling and the research tools included questionnaires (OCI-R), (OCSD), (DASS). Data were analyzed using nonparametric Spearman correlation test.
According to the findings of this study, there is a positive and significant relationship between the total score of obsessive-compulsive disorder and its subscales (p <0.001). Also, a significant positive correlation was found between the total score of obsessive-compulsive disorder and its subscales and obsessive-compulsive disorder disorders as well as with the variables of anxiety, depression and stress.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder, while related to peer disorders in the new diagnostic class of obsessive-compulsive disorder, in another dimension was closely related to emotional dimensions and variables such as anxiety symptoms, depression and stress.
