Abstract:
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES

"Homay" is one of the mythical birds that has been the subject of many themes in the poetry of poets during the past centuries until today. The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning and function of Homa from the mythological period to the contemporary period.

METHODOLOGY

Homa was studied in the poetry of poets by descriptive-analytical method.

FINDINGS

Homa was found in the poetry of all the desired periods, in some less and in some more. The apparent and mythical features of Homa have been reflected in the poetry of the poets.

CONCLUSION

In each period, according to the prevailing thinking of the society, the images presented by Homay are different. In the early centuries, we encounter the mythical face of Homa. When poets turned to religious themes, Homa was described with religious meanings. In the 10th century, when poets sought modernity, new and contrasting images of Homay emerged. And as we approach the contemporary era, the mythical value of Homa diminishes.
