Investigating the Carnival Factors in the Novel of "Night Conformity of Woods Orchestra
A Russian theorist, Michele Bakhtin suggested some concepts in the field of literary criticism and theorin which he provides some new facilities for the analysts of the literary and art works. One of the most important concepts that he suggested for interview logic is Carnival. Carnival is one the bases of polyphonic language in which different sounds are heard without any restriction and the happiness and laughter are created. Carnival originated from the mass celebrations in the Middle centuries that verbally is shown with other factors such as ridicule and joke, negation of ruling values on the society, amalgamation of the death and life, attention to the body and physical pleasures, social critiques and any others relating to the encounter of mass and informal discourse against formal and ruling discourse. Reza Ghasemi is one the remarkable Persian authors which investigated this subject in his first novel named "Night Conformity of Woods Orchestra". In this paper, it is investigated how much his novel does match with the factors of Carnival dialogue. The results of the study show that many components of Carnival dialogue such as death thinking and amalgamation of death and life, attention to physical aspects of human life, negation of the ruling values of the society, social critiques, disaster, crisis, grotesque and so on are the dominant concepts of the novel. Therefore, a polyphonic and dialog-based space dominates the novel.
