Monitoring of pathogenic bacteria in shrimp aquaculture farms in north Tiab

The shrimp production has grown rapidly in the country due to economic reasons. This has increased the investment and entry of different market players into this special field. The desire to make more profit without considering the principles of aquaculture management has made shrimp susceptible to disease. The aim of present study was to monitor pathogenic bacterial agents in shrimp aquaculture farms in the north Tiab. The results showed that total bacterial count in pond 2 inlet water was ten times more than its outlet water. Vibrio isolates made up 19.64 and 22.66 % of existed total bacterial counts. While, in inlet and outlet waters of pond 2 the vibrio isolates were made up 21.21 and 31.71 % of total vibrio count. Vibrio parahaemolyticus isolates were included 5.45% and 7.05 % of total vibrio counts respectively. While, in pond 2 5 and 8.46% of isolated vibrios were belonged to V. parahaemolyticus. The result of this study revealed significant difference of microbial load in inlet and outlet waters in pond 2. This result could be due to poor health status in pond 2. A fundamental revision in the dewatering process, disinfection of inlet water, programmed water exchange, stocking according to pond capacity are proposed as promotional recommendations.
