Identifying factors affecting the improvement of social relations in the urban space under the influence of the place-making approach [Study case: Ferdous neighborhood of Tabriz]

Abstract:

Objectives and contexts:

 A successful urban space has a wide range of subjective and objective components, and paying attention to physical indicators plays a decisive role in creating a "successful" place, one of the strategies of which is paying attention to social relations. Weakness of social relations in neighborhoods can cause problems such as fading sense of belonging to a place and collective spirit. The purpose of this article is to identify the components of the place-making approach and examine its impact and role in the social relations of urban spaces.

Methodology

The method of this research was quantitative and the appropriate answer was obtained through descriptive-analytical method. In order to evaluate the components formulated in the conceptual model, survey research methods and descriptive analytical methods have been used. In order to achieve a comprehensive analysis of the role of placemaking in the restoration of social relations, it has been considered.
Qualitative, documentary and library data collection tools were obtained through content analysis of theoretical literature, and quantitative data was obtained through the completion of 384 questionnaires. In the data analysis section, Ferdous neighborhood of Tabriz was evaluated based on regression, Spearman, Friedman and ANOVA statistical tests.

Findings

Based on the findings of statistical studies, the physical, social, management-policy, perceptual-semantic and economic dimensions are the extracted components of placemaking that have a significant impact on the restoration of social relations from the citizens' point of view.

Conclusion

Based on the contribution and position of this research, it should be mentioned that the establishment of any attitude, the drawing of vision and feasibility and the promotion of social relations with an emphasis on the approach of place-making in urban spaces, due to the simultaneous attention to the five components mentioned, it will be possible.
