A Sociological Study of Immoral High-Risk Behaviors from the Perspective of Students (Case Study: Students of Secondary School in Tabriz City)
Risky and immoral behavior among the students is one of the most important social problems in the adolescence. In this regard, the aim of the current research is to study the types, contexts and consequences of these behaviors of the students in order to provide a clear perception of this social issue.
The method used in this research is a qualitative method and a semi-structured interview technique was used to collect the research data. The target population of the research includes the students of the five zones of the secondary schools in Tabriz city of whom 57 students were interviewed. Purposive sampling method was used to select the participants. To analyze the data, open, axial and selective coding has been used.
Ethical Considerations:
The interviews were conducted after informing the principals, deputy head of the schools and the families of the students and the consent of the participants. Their personal information was kept confidential at all stages of the research and the interviews were analyzed anonymously.
Boyish behaviors, unconventional dressing and make-up, self harming and deceiving the boys are among the high-risk immoral behaviors of female students and carrying cold weapons and flammable substances, pornography, street harassment, drinking alcohol, using narcotic drugs, and participating in mixed (boys and girls) parties are among the risky and immoral behaviors of male students. The factors underlying high-risk immoral behaviors of students include maturity age, gender, socio-economic status, virtual space, normative pressure and customary religious beliefs.
Although some high-risk immoral behaviors are the same among male and female students, some high-risk behaviors are specific to a gender. Therefore, regarding high-risk immoral behaviors of students that threaten their social health, some preventive programs and policies are requird.
