Studying the effect of group psychotherapy with a Monotheistic Integrated approach on depression in women
Depression is a common mental disorder And it is more common in women than men. The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of the Monotheistic Integrated Therapy (MIT) model on women's depression. The research design was quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test and control group. From among the women who referred to the counseling centers of Kerman city in 1400, thirty people were selected and randomly assigned to the experimental and control group. The members of the experimental group underwent group therapy with an Monotheistic Integrated approach during 12 sessions. The collection tool was the Beck Depression Questionnaire, which was administered to both groups before the beginning of the group therapy and one week after the end of the group therapy sessions. The results of univariate covariance analysis of the data showed that the depression rate of the experimental group after the therapeutic intervention was significantly lower than the control group (F=8.5 and p=0.006). Also, the effect index (Eta square) indicates that 19% of the variance of depression in the experimental group is explained by the independent variable, that is, the Monotheistic Integrated Group Therapy. Therefore, counseling and psychotherapy centers can use this method to treat depression in women.
