Abstract:
As an informal part of the Iranian society, Afghan immigrant women experience emotions in the family and social structure that can be influential in the production or reproduction of a cultural environment, beyond its pathology. The present study, with a qualitative approach and interpretative phenomenological method, seeks to narrate the lived experience of Afghan immigrant women. The data collection tool was a semi-structured interview, the data of which was collected through interviews with 25 women of 18 to 40 years old living in the southern areas of Tehranand analyzed according to Van Menen's model. Some of the main themes extracted, such as identity crisis, anxiety, and contentment with the status quo, show that the traditions of the origin society still powerfully affect the lives of immigrant women. It is necessary to pay attention to the results of such studies at the micro and macro levels of cultural policy. In line with the management of support programs for immigrants and population policies such as childbearing, necessary policy recommendations have been provided.
