Sociological Analysis of the Relationship between theLevel of Development of Regions in Tehran andWomen’s Social Security Feeling
Security is referred to as one of the main pillars of development, without which development is not feasible. On the other hand, research indicates the overall impact of development on security. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the inequalities in different dimensions of development and their relationship with women’s social security feeling.
This research is a quantitative survey. Statistical yearbooks, GIS maps, etc. were used to collect information, and the level of development of regions in each indicator was ranked using the Shannon entropy method and the VIKOR technique. The statistical population was Tehran and the sample size was 400 people, who were selected using the quota sampling method. The hypotheses were reviewed and tested using univariate regression and Pearson correlation tests.
There is a direct relationship between the development rank of regions in the dimensions (healthcare, education, investment, and economic well-being) and women’s security feeling, but the impact of the level of development in the imbalanced social services dimension (petrol stations, post offices, etc.) on women’s social security feeling was not confirmed.
By improving the quantitative and qualitative level of development indicators, paying special attention to less developed areas, and identifying the existing potentials in the small-scale industries sector, it is possible to enhance employment and balance incomes and consequently reduce poverty and unemployment, which will lead to increased security feeling.
