Abstract:
Background And Objectives
Primarily there are two types of deterrent for the prevention, occurrence and prevalence of crime, formal and informal, each of which has its own consequences. This study examined the relationship between informal deterrents and the prevalence of social crimes in the city of Kermanshah.
Methodology
This study is of a descriptive and survey research type and the data collection tools were questionnaires and interviews. The statistical population of the study includes all the 18 or more than 18-year-old citizens in Kermanshah city. 300 participants were selected using cluster sampling method. The data were collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire(α=.85) and analyzed via correlational tests and comparing means.Findings and
Results
The research showed that, in general, there is a significant relationship between social capital and crime and this relationship is significant in the dimensions of participation, security, social belonging, responsibility and the rate of abnormality and crime prevalence, but it is not significant in the dimensions of support, trust, ethics, and the rule of law.Among the social abnormalities in Kermanshah personal vehicle theft rate is higher than other offenses. Illicit relationship, mass conflict, beaten by unknown persons, smuggling and crash are in the next rankings.
